We recently told you about the new ‘Golden Huey Award’ at Thomas P. Hughes School, which encourages students to show kindness and respect through their actions in the cafeteria, but there is so much happening!
TPH Counselor, Mrs. Elizabeth Bartlett recently visited 3rd grade classrooms to welcome students to Hughes with an introductory lesson. 3rd graders learned about the role of the School Counselor and the various ways they will see and get to know Mrs. Bartlett this year. The Hughes September precept is “Alone We Can Do So Little, Together We Can Do So Much.” Students learned about building community and the special supports at Hughes to help promote kindness and inclusivity, including the SPARKLE program, which recognizes students who are caught Showing People Authentic Respect Kindness and Love Everyday; the coveted Golden Huey award which recognizes classes showing exemplary behavior in the cafeteria; our playground buddy bench; our cafeteria & recess helpers and most excitingly the new wellness room!
