It is time to nominate our Governor’s Educators of the Year! There are two categories that the state is recognizing: Teacher of the Year and Educational Services Professional of the Year.
We are looking for educators whose dedication has made a significant and positive impact on both students and their school.
Nominate a deserving educator by October 23rd using the Teacher of the Year Google Form and Educational Services Professional of the Year Google Form, respectively.
For Teacher of the Year, the selection committee is seeking educators who:
are experts in their field.
include, inspire, and empower students of all backgrounds and abilities to learn.
actively collaborate with colleagues, students, and families to create a strong culture of respect and success.
demonstrate leadership and innovation in educational activities at the school, district, and/or state and national levels that take place both within and outside the school setting.
have the respect and admiration of students, parents, and colleagues.
have not earned the title of school, county or state Teacher of the Year nor Educational Services Professional of the Year for the past five (5) years.
As per the state, in order to compete for Educational Services Professional of the Year nominees must be classified as one of the following:

Behavior Specialist
Child Study Team
Educational Sign Language Interpreter
Guidance / School Counselor
HELP Teacher
Instructional Coaches
Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant

At the September 24th Board of Education meeting, the Board approved changing Monday, October 12, 2026, from an early dismissal day to a full day of school for all students. The revised 2026–2027 school calendar has been updated and is available on the district website.

Due to the forecast for extreme cold and overnight icing, in an abundance of caution for community safety in the early morning, the Berkeley Heights Public Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay tomorrow, January 27th. There will be NO AM Preschool and PM Preschool will begin at 12:10 pm.
Start times for the schools are:
Kindergarten through Second Grade at William Woodruff and Mary Kay McMillin - 10:45 am
Mountain Park and Thomas P. Hughes - 10:25 am
Columbia Middle School - 10:10 am
Governor Livingston High School - 9:50 am
AM UCVTS students do not attend UCVTS; they report straight to the high school and are not penalized for the UCVTS absence. Full-time UCVTS students will be transported on a 2 hour delay.
