Hello and welcome to my class,

My expectations are high, and my students succeed by working hard.  My rules are simple:

    1. SHOW UP – Be on time, have your iPad, textbook*, notebook, pencils and a calculator.
    2. DO YOUR WORK – the assignments always help your grade, so get them done ASAP!

These two rules will carry you through life, so follow them to succeed.  Grades are based on weekly assessments, homework assignments and daily class work.  I check every assignment.

    1. Assignments – usually worth 5 to 10 points apiece (about 40% of total grade)
    2. Quizzes – usually worth 15 to 20 points apiece (about 40% of total grade)
    3. Tests – usually worth 20 to 25 points apiece (about 20% of total grade)

Students are responsible for completing all assignments, quizzes and tests.

Assignments include problems in the textbook as well as any additional worksheets provided in class.  There will likely be 15 to 20 assignments per marking period.

Quizzes will usually cover one to four sections in the textbook.  There will likely be 6 to 8 quizzes per marking period.  Assignments are checked upon quiz completion.

Tests will usually cover entire chapters in the textbook.  I will try to provide a full review on the day before the test.  There will likely be 2 or 3 tests per marking period.

Tests and quizzes will be based on current material and may include material previously covered.  Make-ups will be given during lunch periods and should be completed ASAP.

Algebra 1 students are expected to utilize Mathspace by signing up and completing all topics over the course of the school year.  This activity will be monitored and graded.  Opportunity for work on Mathspace Tasks and Section Reviews will be provided during Math Strategies.

Extra help is available!   I will be in room 14 before 1st Block, often during lunch, and at the end of the school day.  Please take advantage of the opportunity whenever you need help.

I sincerely hope that you enjoy my class!
