    Progress reports will be available for viewing through the Powerschool Parent Portal on December 19th after 4PM.     Camp Invention Is Back this Summer!

    What will students experience this year? The 2023 program, Wonder, is designed to inspire students to become problem finders and problem solvers. Through hands-on activities and challenges, children build confidence, investigate STEM concepts, use their imaginations and learn that everyone can be creative.

    Pictures with Santa Fundraiser

    SAGE Eldercare, the non-profit elder care agency, is hosting a Pictures with SANTA fundraiser on December 3rd and 4th from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at our facility at 290 Broad Street in Summit.  In addition to the pictures, they will have refreshments and fun activities for the kids.

    Be Kind Assembly

    What’s up MP, This is Zayna from 5GM - This week we had the Be Kind Assembly. The 3rd and 4th graders had it on Monday, and 5th graders had it today. Everyone did a great job participating and listening during the assembly. All MPS students will get a stress ball. Hope you enjoy the long weekend - Pound it MP!

    Applications for the afterschool STEAM program through Fiserv are due this Sunday, Nov. 6. The program is available to all BH students grades 5-8. More information is available at https://fintechies.fiserv.com/ and students can apply at: https://fintechies.fiserv.com/apply-now/. If students record a video and the file size is too large to attach, you can upload it to Google Drive, set the sharing settings to "Anyone with the link can view," copy that link, paste it into a Google docs, download the Google Docs as a PDF, and upload that PDF to the application.     Halloween Parade - 10.31.22 - 1:15 PM

    - The parade will take place in front of the building

    - Students will walk around the flagpole island

    - Families, parents, supportive adults should stand on the island or on the sidewalk - The parade will be followed by class parties

    - The parties will be centered around crafts and activities that will facilitated by classroom teachers and class parents

    - Parties will take place either in the classroom or outside the building

    - Typically students wear a simpler form or just a portion of their costume for the parade and then wear a more involved or full costume for trick or treating

    - During school, students should not have any weapon or object that could be dangerous

    - If, as a parent you are not sure, please err on the side of caution and keep the object at home

    - If some form of mask/hood is an important part of the costume, that mask should only be worn during the actual parade

    - If we need to change our plans due to poor weather, I will be in touch by noon Monday

    - We will make every effort to maintain the parade.

    The flier below is for our first parent wellness consortium. 

    Here is where families can stay up to date on the events. 

    The district is part of a consortium with nearby districts (Chatham, New Providence, Millburn, Summit). Throughout the year, each district provides a parent wellness event on relevant topics. The events are open to parents from all districts. 

    BH schools have an early dismissal on 10.10.22 (12:55 for MPS) - There will be no lunch period - Students should bring a heavy snack.

    The MPS PTO Nature Club - Does your child enjoy nature and digging in the dirt? Mountain Park is excited to invite your child to join the Nature Club in our courtyard.  Your child will learn about different plants, trees, birds, and fish.  They will have a chance to get their hands dirty while gardening, seeding and harvesting vegetables. Your child will create various crafts to bring home or display in the courtyard.  The first meeting will be on Monday October 17, 2022 immediately after school and will last until 3:45.  The club will be supervised by Mrs. Campbell (PTO) and Mrs. Masri ( 4th Grade Teacher).     The Columbia Middle School PTO is pleased to invite all members of the community to attend the upcoming ‘Don’t Press Send – a Mindful Approach to Social Media’ parent presentation being held on Wednesday, October 12 at 7pm in the Governor Livingston auditorium.  The Don’t Press Send Campaign is an educational resource for parents, educators, and students that provides strategies and guidelines to better navigate this ever-changing technological world by teaching Kind and Careful Online Communication.

    This Fall season the Highlander Marching Band will be hosting the 51st Annual Pageant of Champions Marching Band Tournament. The event will take place at Governor Livingston  High School on October 16, 2022 at 12:30 pm. There will be 10 bands competing and the  Highlanders will close the show with an exhibition performance of “Rach and Roll”. The Snack  Shack will be open and serving the “world famous” Highlander Chili among other fan favorites!  Tickets are $10, Children under 6 free of charge.     It is getting to the time of year when it may be a good idea to have students leave a hat and gloves in  their backpack and a hooded sweatshirt to remain on their hook in the classroom.

    MP MOVIE NIGHT 

    We are excited for our outdoor movie night on October 7th.

    We look forward to seeing everyone there!!

    Cognitive Abilities Tests for grades three and five have been rescheduled. They will now take place on November 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

    BH schools will be closed on 10.5.22

    BH schools have an early dismissal on 10.10.22 - There will be no lunch period - Students should bring a heavy snack.
