• Welcome to GL's Environmental Club

We act locally to address global environmental issues, especially climate change and biodiversity loss. We aim to empower students to work towards a more sustainable world. You can read more about GL's commitment to sustainability here

    We achieve this by:

    • Educating ourselves, the school, and the wider community on environmental issues.
    • Building and maintaining native plant rain and pollinator gardens.
    • Researching, planting, and caring for native NJ trees.
    • Establishing an official arboretum on campus.
    • Learning about and educating the wider community on the importance and care of native NJ species.
    • Working with students from the middle and elementary schools.
    • Volunteering with local environmental organizations such as the Berkeley Heights Environmental Commission, Watchung Reservation Trail Stewards, and Great Swamp Watershed Association on planting trees, removing invasive species, and restoring hiking trails.

    Our current goals are to:

    • Help implement the district's new Sustainability Policy.
    • Increase solar energy production at BH schools.
    • Improve the biodiversity of our school campuses.

    New members are always welcome.
