On Saturday April 21, 2012 and Sunday April 22, 2012 eight students from Governor Livingston’s Model UN club attended the 13th annual SHUMUN Model UN conference at Seton Hall University.  At the conference, the club members served on various committees with other students from all over the country.  In their committee meetings the students discussed and debated a range of international issues from the perspective of an assigned country.  Each student was responsible for researching and writing a position paper addressing the position of their country on the issues discussed.
This was the first time that many of Governor Livingston’s delegates had attended a Model UN conference, yet they were all commended by the SHUMUN staff for a job well done!  In addition, Zachary Friedlander (junior) was given the award of Outstanding Delegation for his work representing France on the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).  Isha Mehrotra (freshman) represented South Africa and was awarded Best Position Paper out of the delegates on the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII).
