Your children and the MPS staff have responded favorably to the combined Mountain Park Parent Teacher Organization/ Berkeley Heights Education Foundation gift of IPADS. Each teacher has one in their room full time and the teachers take turns making use of a cart that has enough IPADS for an entire classroom. You may have noticed that several rooms received new floors and ceilings over the summer. This was an endeavor that required extensive cooperation but proved worth the effort once completed. The week of October 1st was our annual week of respect. Mrs. Reedy, our guidance counselor, coordinated a door decorating activity and an inclusive playground/recess game presentation activity. Each grade level had a different theme for their doors centered on ways to show respect. The playground activity was done in conjunction with an eighth grade student leader group from CMS under the direction of Mrs. Schaffer (CMS Counselor). Students participated in a wide variety of games designed to be inclusive.
Please encourage your children to dress under the assumption that we always go outside for recess. If you are dropping your child off in the morning and the blacktop is already cleared, please bring them to the front of the building and sign them in at the main office. If you have not done so already, please update your powerschool contact information. As of 10/19/12, 82 students still have not been updated. Please be patient during afternoon pick-up in front of MPS. It appears that when we have rain on Mondays far more parents pick up than normal. Our goal is to have the process run as safely and as smoothly as possible.
As always, please be in touch with any concerns you may have.
